Shoreline residents of Lake Sammamish who experience regular flooding to their property and shoreline now can receive financial support to help alleviate flooding issues. King County Flood Control District will be providing up to $100,000 to residents who apply for grant funding through the Lake Sammamish Dock and Shoreline Grants Program.
Grant funding is available to Lake Sammamish shoreline, single-family homeowners to reduce flood damages to Lake Sammamish docks and other shoreline structures, while providing erosion control and salmon habitat improvements.
Funding Details
There is a $100,000 cap on all grants, with a required a 25% cash match. Funds would become available in early 2026 and grantees will have up to 3 years to complete the project.
Eligibility Requirements
Only Lake Sammamish, shoreline, single-family homeowners are eligible to apply. Grant funds can be used for technical assistance for the design and permitting of projects, as well as construction. All projects, whether or not they have complete site plans or permits yet, are eligible to apply.
Eligible projects include:
Replacement of fixed docks with floating docks
Green shoreline erosion control or planting projects
Relocation of outbuildings to a location outside of flood hazard areas
Projects must be along the Lake Sammamish shoreline and may not create or increase flooding elsewhere on the Lake or in the Sammamish River. These eligible locations are in the cities of Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, and Bellevue. All projects will need to meet minimum standards for salmon protection to secure city, state, and federal permits.
The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.
